Description

A postcard depicting the palms and flowers in beautiful Eola Park, Orlando, Fla. "The City Beautiful." Established in 1888, Lake Eola had humble beginnings as a natural sinkhole called Sandy Beach. It was later transformed into the beloved lakeside icon we know today by Robert L. Summerlin, the fifth Mayor of Orlando from 1885 to 1892. Genuine Curteich-Chicago, a Chicago-based company renowned for advertising city features in the 20th century, originally printed the postcard pictured in the early 1930s.
